Pastor Rob Barber was born and was raised in Meigs County. He was blessed to be raised in a Christian home. Like many teens, he temporarily turned his back on God, leading a life that really didn’t set right with the biblical truth he had been taught and what he knew deep down in his heart. In 1976, he married his high school sweetheart, Tammi, to establish a partnership in life and ministry that continues to bless our region today.
Pastor Rob was called to pastor South Bethel New Testament Church in the fall of 1995. This was the same church Rob and Tammi were married in and where they gave their lives to Christ. Pastor Duane and Elsie Sydenstricker were in failing health and were no longer able to tend to their flock. With the new pastor in place, the church grew both numerically and spiritually; and in 2001, its name was changed to Bethel Worship Center and recently
shortened to Bethel.
Pastor Rob and his wife are proud parents of three children. Daughter Jessica Dawson, with her husband Doug and their three children reside near Dallas, Texas and attend Compass Christian Church. Daughter Beth Ringer, her husband Brady and their two sons live nearby in Athens County and serve proudly at Bethel, where Beth helps in the children’s ministry. Son Micah Barber, wife Tricia and their two daughters also live nearby in Athens County and attend Bethel.
Looking back, the Barbers recognize the hand of God in every chapter of their lives and they are thankful to be serving Meigs County, leading a dynamic group of people in ministry and evangelism. They look forward to reaching people within the 50-mile area of the church, surrounding communities, state, nation and world being reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ from right here in Meigs County, Ohio.
Otis is an ordained minister of the gospel and a graduate of Hocking Valley School of the Bible, where his primary studies were in Pastoral Care and Theology. Known for Spirit-led spontaneous worship, Otis and Ivy Crockron have a desire to lead people in touching the heart of God. Otis and Ivy reside in Athens along with their two children, Seth and Jadyn.
Dot spent the first 18 years of her life just outside of Coolville Ohio, where she attended school in the Eastern Local School District. Although not raised in a Christian family, she faithfully attended church, giving her heart to Jesus at the age of 14. After graduating from high school, she spent 1½ years at Ohio University in Athens. She then ventured to Kentucky to attend Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute, graduating with an Associate’s degree in Theology, majoring in Christian education. Soon after, God sent the love of her life to her . . . Mike Norman. They were wed in 1982 and have actively served in three area churches. They started attending Bethel in 1997 and are dedicated members of the church.
Never having any experiences with small children and not being raised in a loving atmosphere, Dot vowed never to work with kids (or have anything to do with them!) However, God had other plans. When a children’s church teaching position came open at Bethel in 2003, Dot took the dive into ministry. God changed her heart from one of fear and doubtfulness to one of love and enthusiasm for reaching kids for Christ. Definitely a radical heart operation!
Dot is the now Bethel’s KidZone Children’s Pastor, and the Postmaster of the Pomeroy Ohio Post Office. She and her husband reside in Coolville.
Youth Ministry Leader
Our children face more challenges today than ever before and all of them have questions that require real answers. Seva is a natural, when it comes to communication with the youth as she considers herself nothing more than a big kid at heart.
Seva is finishing her second and final year at Da’ath Elohim School of Ministry where she is developing and sharpening her skills.
When she’s not leading in ministry, Seva enjoys spending time with her husband Billie Wells and two children, Brayanna and Ross.
